Cinnamon Rolls made with a Cake Mix

Last night I made a recipe that my aunt found in a cookbook for cinnamon rolls. Okay, let’s just say these are so rich, buttery, moist and delicious. Yes, the cinnamon rolls do taste homemade but they’re the best homemade cinnamon rolls I’ve ever eaten. I’d like to tell you these are easy and non messy to make, but I’d be lying. You’ll probably want to set aside 1.5-2 hours to make a batch of these suckers. These are just so good though, the time, ingredients and handwork is worth it. Here’s the recipe:

CINNAMON ROLLS

2 pkgs yeast
1 yellow or white cake mix
4 Cups flour
3 eggs
1/3 Cup oil
1 tsp salt
Melted butter
Brown sugar
Cinnamon

Dissolve yeast in 2 1/2 Cups warm water for 3 minutes.  Add cake mix, 1 Cup flour, eggs, oil, and salt.  Beat with beater until bubbles appear.  Slowly add remaining flour.  Stir with spoon making a soft dough.  Let rise until double in size.  Roll out to about 1/4 of an inch thick.  Spread with melted butter, sugar and cinnamon.  Cut and let rise again.  Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit  for 2 0-30 minutes.  Ice while still warm.  Yields about 3 cake pans full. Enjoy 🙂
*Tip when kneading and rolling dough you’ll need about a 1/2 cup more of flour so the dough won’t stick to anything as easily
